The anti-myocardial ischemia effect and the mechanisms of Herbal Ixeritis Sonchifoliae-sodium chloride injection (HISI) were preliminary studied. Toxicity of it was studied too in this paper.HISI treatment prolong the survival time of mice in toxic condition induced by sodium nitrite and duration of electrocardiograph in trachea closed mice .HISI could obviously improve the ischemic electrocardiogram T-wave induced by Pituitrin (Pit).ST segment drifts on electrocardiogram in acute myocardial ischemia rats induced by Isoprotereno (Iso) were obviously opposed by administration of HISI. The myocardial infarction areas, releasement of lactic dehydrogenase (LDH) , creatine phosphokinase(CK) significantly increased in myocardial ischemia dogs, HISI treatment prevented these effects .These results indicated that HISI had the protective effects on ischemia myocardium. The homodynamic studied on dogs in narcotics show that the mean artery pressure (MAP) ;ventricular pressure maximal change rate (+dp/dt) decrease, the left ventricular press (LVP) ; ventricular pressure maximal change rate (-dp/dt) ; Coronary blood flow (CBF); cardiac output (CO) increased after treatment of HISI while left ventricular end diastolic pressure decreased in dogs. Moreover, HISI show obviously anti-platelet aggregation effect induced by ADP .The hemorheology in the rat model of blood stasis could also be improved by treatment of HISI..Summarizing all the experimental results, HISI showed anti-myocardial ischemia effects. The mechanism maybe involved in ameliorating hemodynamical indexes, increasing the super oxide dismutase (SOD) activity inhibiting oxygen free radical (OFR) activity, anti-platelet aggregation effects and ameliorating hemorheology.
