Objective To explore effects of Calcitonin on glucocorticoids-induced osteoporotic rats and the relationship between IGF-1 and osteoporosis. Methods 30 male 3-month-old Spargue-Dawley rats were randomly devided into three groups and every group has ten rats:the model group(methylprednisolone,3.5mg/d/kg),the control group (0.9%NaCl, 1.64ml/kg/d)and the Miacalcic group〔(methylprednisolone, 3.5mg/d/kg) + Miacalcic (2u/d/kg)〕All medicines were injected subcutaneously between 8 O'clock And 9 O'clock in the morning. All rats were weighed once a week. After 9 weeks,BMD,IGF-1,BGP,Urine Ca/Cr,Urine P/Cr,Seram Ca and Seram P were measured in every group.BGP is a formative index.Urine Ca/Cr and Urine P/Cr are resorptive index. Results Compared with that of the control group,BMD decreased obviously in the model group(p<0.05).IGF-1 and BGP were all decreased obviously(p<0.05). Urine Ca/Cr,Urine P/Cr increased obviously(p<0.05). .It indicates the model group was made successfully Compared with those of model group,BMD,IGF-1 and BGP were all increased obviously. Urine Ca/Cr,Urine P/Cr decreased obviously. Conclusion Miacalcic can make the formation of bone increased gradually, the resorption of bone inhibited, the remodeling of bone accelerated. So Miacalcic was benefit to avoid the decrease of BMD in rats with glucocorticoid-induced osteoporosis.Decrease of IGF-1 may play a role in the pathogenesis of glucocorticoid-induced osteoporosis.
