Objective: To analyze the epidemiological characteristics and influencing factors of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome(SARS) in Shanxi Province in general. Summarize the experience and lessons in order to provide information for prevention and control of SARS as well as dealing with other emergency public health events. Methods: The descriptive and analyzing epidemiological methods as well as seroepidemiological assay were used to study the distributions of SARS on time, area and population. Reveal the characteristics and regular pattern of its epidemic.①Investigated the epidemiological history of 448 clinical confirmed SARS cases, drawing the map of coming places of primary cases and whereabouts of the secondary cases, clarify the reasons of SARS inputting and spreading.②Exploring transmission relationship between cases by drawing the chain-map and learning the main transmission process.③Selecting the chain-cases with the exact onset and contact time to calculating the average incubation of same generation cases on different transmission chains and the average incubation of different generation cases on same transmission chain, Calculating the incubation median, the fifth percentile and the ninety-fifth percentile of the incubation of the observed cases.④Analyzing the timeliness of admission and the treating condition through the statistical calculation of the onset time, the admission time, the hospitalization time as well as the diagnostic time of the suspect and clinical confirmed cases.⑤Screening the main risk factors of transmission by calculating the relative risk (RR) of different contact ways and the relative risk (RR) of different relationships.⑥Learning the time of antibody positive-changing and the period of the antibody maintaining by detecting SARS-IgG antibody level in different population at different period of time among the same population .Results:①The primary SARS cases in Shanxi were mainly inputted from Guangdong and Beijing, and formed the hospital-related infections in Shanxi Provincial People's Hospital. The severe cross-infections between doctors and patients as well as patients and patients in this hospital become the"Reaction Pile"or"Transmission Center"which accelerate the spreading of SARS in Shanxi province.②There are 411 cases who have the exact contact history among the 448 cases, account for 91.74% of the total. There are 31 transmission chains with 208 cases on them, the number of cases with transmission chains account for 50.61% of the total cases who have the exact contact history (208/411). The Secondary cases have reached the fourth generation, the number of second generation cases is the largest group and account for...
