Xiaofeng Granule On Senile Pruritus Efficacy Observed

Objective: Pruritus of the elders is a common disease in clinic. Oral antihistamine and hormone ointment for external application are used in western medicine, but it has side-effects such as lethargy, atrophy of skin and dilatation of capillary. TCM has the advantages of better curative effects and fewer side-effects. The objective is to explore the therapeutic mechanism of Xiao Feng Chong Ji which has the effects of wind-expelling, blood -nourishing, heat-clearing and dampness-removing by clinic observation.Methods:41 patients with pruritus were divided randomly into the test group (21 cases) treated with Xiao Feng Chong Ji and the control group (20 cases) treated with Cetirizine Tablets. Both groups had been given four 1-week courses.Results:The total effective rate of Xiao Feng Chong Ji is 90. 48%, higher than that of Cetirizine Tablets.1. Xiao Feng Chong Ji can alleviate patients' subjective symptoms,such as vexaton and insomnia.2. Xiao Feng Chong Ji can alleviate patients' physical signs, such as scratch marks, blood scab and lichenification.Conclusions:The pathogenic factors and the pathogenesis of pruritus of the elders are complicated. Wind, dampness, heat, insects and blood deficiency are the common reasons of this disease. Xiao Feng Chong Ji has the effects of wind-expelling, blood-nourishing, heat-clearing and dampness-removing. It can improve the symptoms of the elder patients with pruritus and have better curative effect than that of Cetirizine Tablets through the clinic. The sample number of this clinic test is small, which is the defect of this article, and we should enlarge the sample for a further observation in the future.
