Nanometer magnetic materials have extensive application in biomedicine engineering, and the security of nanometer magnetic powders is very important, so we did the preparation of nanometer Ni-Zn ferrite powders and did the research on its biological effect.The study described in this thesis consists of three parts: (1) The preparation of nanometer Ni-Zn ferrite powders by sol-gel process and traditional ceramic oxide process. The redox behavior and crystallization process of the dried gels were studied by IR spectra. The synthesized powders by sol-gel process were characterized in terms of XRD, TEM. (2) The influences of the nanometer Ni-Zn ferrite powders on blood of rat, the nanometer Ni-Zn ferrite powders were dissolved in saline solution to obtain 1mg/ml suspension. We measured ALT, AST, ALB, CRE, BUN, RBC, WBC, HB index and whole blood viscosity of rats which was injected the suspension through trail's vein once every two days for one week to contrast with ones which were injected saline solution under the same condition. (3) The cytotoxicity of Ni-Zn ferrite powders was evaluated in the MTT assay using the cell line L929.We get the conclusions: Nanometer Ni-Zn ferrite powders were synthesized by a novel sol-gel auto-combustion method. The gels, transformed from the aqueous solutions of metal nitrate and citric acid, undergo a self propagating combustion process when being ignited and yield voluminous ashes. These ashes were single phase spinel Ni-Zn ferrite powders with particle size of 20-50nm. The amount of leucocytes of the experiment group was more than the control ones. On the other hand, the amount of erythrocytes was distinctly different from the control group, the amount of experiment group obviously decreased. Other datas had no obviously changed. The cytotoxicity of Ni-Zn ferrite powders was in 0-1 grade, the cell compatibility of Ni-Zn ferrite powders was all right.
