Objective: Ulcerative Colitis is a kind of undefined chronic inflammatory disease of rectum and colon. It will persist and outbreak again and again. Western medicinal therapy has unsatisfied effect. Traditional medicine has abundant experience to cure this disease. JCKT is a experiential prescription of professor Chen Rushan , it compose of seven kind of herbal medicines. It's effect to Ulcerative Colitis is observable and side-effect is small. Prevenient animal experiment show JCKT can observably ant-inflammate and ease pain. This experiment is to study JCKT' effect to rat and JCKT infection to rat's colonic ICAM-1 and COX-2 level, discuss JCKT ant-inflammatal elements, provide academic sustain to cure Ulcerative Colitis.Methods: 60 SD female rat are randomly divided into 4 groups. Each group included 15 rats respectively. Except normal group, every rat replicated UC model by TNBS/ ethanol. The model group fill with sodium chloride 1ml everyday; the large dose JCKT treatment groups fill with JCKT 6g/d, the small dose JCKT treatment groups fill with JCKT 1.5g/d,last 10 days. Observe rat weight, stool everyday. To 11 day get rat's colon to observe inflammation degree, wound depth etc. To exam ICAM-1 and COX-2 by Immunohistochemistry and analyse data by SPSS11.0 software.Results: The rat's weight descend, stool is watery, and rat's colon has different degree damnification. The ICAM-1 and COX-2 level have obvious rise. Through fill with JCKT, the ICAM-1 and COX-2 level descend. Model group and small dose JCKT treatment group have obvious difference ((P<0.05), small dose JCKT treatment group and large dose JCKT treatment group have obvious difference ((P<0.05).Conclusion: The rat model is successful. JCKT can improve rat's symptom and reduce colonic ICAM-1 and COX-2 level. It maybe ant-inflammate through reduce colonic ICAM-1 and COX-2 level, but Ulcerative Colitis' mechanism is very complex, It need more deeply research that elucidate JCKT's ant-inflammation mechanism.
