Objective: To investigate the effect of danbaixiao mixture on serum free radical and endagenous antioxidease in rats with nephrotic syndromeand look for a new way for the treatment of renal diseases.Methodology: fifty female SD rats were randomly divided into five groups. They were normal, neprotic syndrome, dexamethasone-treated, Danbaixiao mixture-treated and dexanethasone plus Danbaixiao mixture-treated group. Nephritic syndrome rats were induced by Bertani method. One week later, rats were given medicine for four weeks. In the end of study, serum total protein (TP), Albumin (Alb), total Choesterol (TC), Blood urea nitrogen (BUN). hydroxyl group free redical(-OH), malonydialdehyde(MDA). Superoxide dismutase (SOD) and urinary protein excretron were determined by biochemical methods.Results: vrinary Albumin for 24h in model group were more than in normal group(P<0.01)1) Normal circumstance: During the experiment, two rats for neprotic syndrome rats induced by Bertani methods, other groups have one dead rat respectively. The bite and sup of normal group increased, there are no other abnormal characteristic. However, after neprotic syndrome rats were induced by Bertani methods, there are a series of abnormal characteristics, such as, more urine, spirit tiredness, dropsy etc. When we cure these rats using our method, all of them are saved2) After neprotic syndrome rats were induced by Bertani methods for seven days, urine protein ratio of rats increased evidently. From the 28th day to the termination time of experiments, the 24 hours urine protein ratio of the model group and other experiment groups also increased, but the increase scope of Danbaixiao mixture-treated plus dexanethasone group is more little than other groups. Especially, the comparsion result between Danbaixiao mixture-treated plus dexanethasone group and other groups is that our method has salient improvement (p<0.01).3) compared with nephrotic group, MDA was eliminated efficiently (P<0. 01), the activation of serum SOP was significantly improved (P<0. 01), the level of TC was decreased (P<0. 01), the level of ALB was increased (P<0. 01) in Danbaoxiao mixture group.4) compared with dexomethasome - treated group, one level of serum-OH and MDA was lower (P<0.01, 0.05 repsectively) and the activation of serum SOD were significantly higher (P<0. 05), the level of BUN and TC were lower (P<0. 01, 0. 05 respectively), the level of Alb was higher (P<0.01) in dexamethasone plus Danbaixiao mixture group.Conclusion: Danbaixiao mixture a meliorate renal lesions in rephortic syndrome animal models which may be corrected with improving the activation of endogenous eliminating free redicals (-0H) and deoreasing lipid peroxide.
