Objective: To probe into the regulating effects on neuron apoptosis in the hippocumpusarea of Alzheimer's disease by electro-acupuncture, and to. develop the mechnism ofelectro-acupuncture on it.Methods: The 3 months SD rats which were change into the AD model by abdominalinjecting the D-glacatose first and and then the hippocampus injectingβ-amyloidl-40, weredivided into four groups control group, electro-acupuncture group, false-injecting group andnormal group, after electro-acupuncturing the points "Baihui"(Du20),"Yongquan"(KIl), Theeffects on improving the study and memory abilities of AD rats were observed, and theexpressions of apoptosis protein Bcl-2 and Cyt-c in hippocampus were detected by usingimmunohistochernistry method. Results: In comparison with times of entering the blind-end and average periods ofswimming for the rats of the control group, those for the rats in the treated group weredecreased obviously(P<0.05). And the expression of Bcl-2 in the hippocapmmi neuron of therats in the treated group was reduced obviously (P<0.05), that of Cyt-c was enhanced(P<0.05).Conclusion: Electro-acupuncture could improve the learning and memory abilities of ADrats, and the effects of electo-acupuncture for AD mybe achieved by increasing the activitiesof Bcl-2 and decreasing that of Cyt-c to inhibit the apoptosis, and then to prevent the neuronfrom loss.
