Objective : By the methods of immunohistochemistry , histochemistry, transmission electron microscope (TEM) and biochemical measurement .It was studied the effect of histology structure of abundant chromium yeast on the islet B cell of diabetic mice induced by alloxan. Methods: The mice were divided into 6 groups: normal control group(NCG), diabetic control group(DCG), medicine control group(MCG 400mg/kg.d) and experimental group ( EG Cr~3+ 500ug/kg.d , 250ug/kg.d, 125ug/kg.d). The experimental period was 3 weeks. Results: The result of biochemical measurement: Fasted blood sugar (FBS)were measured before and after experiment. It showed that abundant chromium yeast had significant effect of decreasing FBS on diabetic mice (Cr~3+ 500ug/kg.d,250ug / kg.d P< 0.01 ).The result of morphyology: PAS reaction of hepatic tissue showed that it could increase the disposal of glucose; pancreas islet B cell HRP-SPA reaction and TEM showed that it could restore the histology structure of damaged pancreas islet B cells .Conclusions: Abundant chromium yeast had significant effect of decreasingFBS on diabetic mice induced by alloxan; may be its mechanism of decreasing blood sugar was the insulin kind function of promoting synthesis of hepatic glycogen and utilization of glucose etc; it could restore the histology structure of damaged pancreas islet B cells.
