Nowadays diabetes mellitus(DM)has been a common disease among the Chinese, about 20-40% of the patients contains nephropathy due to diabetes mellitus all over the world. The population is increasing that chronic renal failure necessary to dialyze due to diabetic nephropathy, and it has been a big burden of the society. As a result it has been an important topic in the department of nephrology and endocrinology. During the last years TCM has made much progress on diabetic nephropathy. In the article the direction towards diabetic nephropathy of the Shenluozhengjia theory will be showed. The article is consist of 3 parts, the first is on the actuality of TCM therapy, the second is on the Shenluozhengjia theory, the third is the clinic study of the therapy under the direction of Shenluozhengjia theory. In the first part, the source of the description on diabetic nephropathy is showed, so was the development of the TCM treatment on it in recent years including the therapeutic theory and modern study. In the part of the theory study, Zhengjia and the TCM collateral disease theory are both described, so was the theory of Shenluozhengjia and its modern development . In the part of clinical study we select 66 patients with diabetic nephropathy in its renal insufficiency normal phase who were differentiated with deficiency of both qi and yin were classified into 2 groups randomly and comparably, 33 in each one. All the patients got basic treatment including diet and glycemic control, and antihypertensive drugs except ACEI and ARBs. The subject group were treated by Chinese materia medica under the direction of the Shenluozhengjia theory in addition, while the control group patients are treated with benazepril in addition. The therapeutic effectiveness was observed 8 weeks later. The result shows that Chinese material medica can reduce urea protein level and improve the QOL. Conclusion: traditional Chinese medicine is effective in the therapy of diabetic nephropathy, and the theory of Shenluozhengjia is directive to the therapy of diabetic nephropathy.
