Diabetic diarrhea is one of the common diabetic complications. Modern medicine doesn't have special effective therapy to it. In the twenty-odd years of clinical study and scientific research in endocrine, Professor Yu SJ considers diabetic diarrhea belongs to "diarrhea" in traditional Chinese medicine. The pathogenesis of it: Yin diffidence causes Yang diffidence, Yang of the kidney can't warm Yang of the spleen, the spleen's functions are transporting nutrients upwards and being responsible for food digestion and fluid transportation, so Yang diffidence of the spleen leads to that the spleen can't transport nutrients upwards and body fluid flows to the large intestine to cause diarrhea. In treatment, Pro. Yu usually uses milk vetch and large-headed atractylodes to invigorate vital energy of spleen and uses drugs for warm gently the spleen and the kidney, such as malaytea scurfpea, longspur epimedium. At the same time, Pro. Yu uses lots of job's tears, Chinese atractylodes, fructus amomi to invigorate the spleen for eliminating wetness in order to relieve the primary and secondary symptoms simultaneously. To acute-diarrhea patients, Pro. Yu adds seed of the Nelumbo nucifera Gaertn. and nutmeg to the recipe in order to relieve the secondary symptom in an acute case.
