Different Causes Of Optic Atrophy On Tcm Syndrome

Study on the Traditional Chinese Medical Syndrome of Optic Atrophy (OA) This study was under the guidance of traditional Chinese medical theory, to explore the characteristics of traditional Chinese medical(TCM syndrome) syndrome. Though the study, we hope to hold the basic rules of OA, to discuss the relativity of the TCM syndrome with different causes of OA, then to guide our clinical therapy. The thesis summarizes including two parts, review and clinical study on the TCM syndrome. The review part includes OA concept and different diseases which were related with OA and were reported freguently this years. It also includes the epidemiology characters and morden research of these diseases. At the last part of the review, we remarked the theories and viewpoints about OA in different periods of TCM development. In the clinical study part, we observed 120 OA patients which were caused by LHON,TON,ION and glaucoma. We graded them according to various degrees of their symptoms, based the diagnostic standard of the OA. We evaluated the arisen rates of every symptom and every type according to these four causes of OA, and compared them. Results: With the different causes of the disease, the symptoms became also different. In general the OA patients caused by LHON showed liver stasis symptoms freguently,the OA patients caused by TON and glaucoma showed qi stasis and blood stasis symptoms freguently,the OA patients caused by ION showed qi deficiency and blood deficiency symptoms freguently. From the statistics,we found qi deficiency and blood deficiency symptoms appeared much more than the other symptoms. liver stasis symptoms are very important in OA. Though the study, we know there are same and different characters in the traditional Chinese medical syndrome of OA. We investigated its cause, pathogenesis and treatment.
