In this article, two parts are include. One is the literature review, and the other is clinical study. In literature review consists of two parts. In the first one, We summarize the opinions about chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) by traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) from ancientry to today. This paper include the historical names, symptom, pathogenic, mechanism and treatment and so on. The second paper is based on the (GOLD) , and combined with its up-to-date research progress. A survey of COPD was made in detail in terms of its concept, risk factors, etiology and pathology, manifestation, diagnosis and classification and so on.In clinical study, we research deficiency of Qi based on mechanism of COPD. We summarize the mechanism of COPD with deficiency of Qi, blood-stasis, phlegm-block. There are 207 patients in my study. There are 40 cases who have no the syndrome of deficiency of Qi,We called it Group A. There are 167 cases who have the syndrome of deficiency of Qi, We called it Group B. According to the classifying standard of GOLD, We divide 207 COPD patients into five stages. They are stage 0, stage I, stage II, stage III, stage IV. Then we attempt to search for regular pattern of A and B group developing pathogenesis in 0 stage to IV stage. We find that Group A is more than Group B in 0 and I stage in ratio. And Group B is more than Group A in III and IV stage in ratio. Then We divide Group B into 4 groups, they are deficiency of Qi of lung, deficiency of Qi of both lung and spleen, deficiency of Qi of both lung and kidney, deficiency of Qi of lung spleen and kidney. There are not remarkable difference in the four groups from stage 0 to stage IV. The result embody the regular pattern of developingpathogenesis that it is aggravated from the patients who have no the syndrome of deficiency of Qi to that who have the syndrome of deficiency of Qi.There are 44 stable COPD patients who have test T lymphcyte. We divide them into two groups. Group A consists of the patients who have no the syndrome of deficiency of Qi. Group B consists of the patients who have the syndrome of deficiency of Qi. Group A is higher than Group B in CD3+ CD4+and CD8+'s count. And there are remarkable difference between group A and group B. There are not remarkable difference between group A and group B in CD4+ and CD8+' s percentage and CD4+/CD8+. The result shows us that the stable COPD patients' function of immune who have the syndrome of deficiency of Qi is lower than that who have no the syndrome of deficiency of Qi.
