Cervical spondylopathy is a familiar disease which frequently happens on middle age and agedness, especially after 50 years old, the ratio is 50 percent. The syndrom of this disease is complicated, the course is very long ang frequently recur. The man is more than woman. It can bring on prodigious agony and inconvience.To observe the clinic effects of acupuncture and massage on neck intervertebral disc protrusion(NIDP), furnish none-surgery treatment with effective measure and provide a scientific theory for acupuncture by comparing the indexes of NIDP manifested by X-ray or CT before and after treatment between acupuncture group and moxibustion group. Methods:Study was performed on 50 patients with NIDP, which was proved by X-ray or CT, who was randomdly divided into 2 groups:acupuncture group, which was composed of 30 patient who were treated by acupuncturing such points as fengchi , dazhui ang jingjiaji point; massage group , comprised 20 patients treated only by massage . We compared the manifestation of X-ray or CT and syndromes before and after treatment, then study the differences.Result:1. Clinic Evaluation The remarkably improved rates of the acupuncture group and massage group were 70. 7% and 55% respectively. The improved rates of the two groups were 93.3% and 85%. There were significant differences between the two groups(P<0. 05), Obviously, the acupuncture group was superior to the massage group.2. The changes of indexes manifested by X-ray or CT before and after treatment The marks concerned by X-ray or CT of the two groups decreased. And there were significant differences between the two groups after treatment(P<0. 05). Consequently,the former was superior to the latter.Conclusion:Both acupuncture and massage have obviously therapeutic effects on NIDP, and acupuncture group is superior. Acupucture has remarkable clinic effects on NIDP and it likely has no vice or poisonous effects. It can be accepted and shoud be worth applying further in practic.
