Objective: To investigate clinic status, risk factors and current status of resistant hospital acquired infection of Yeasts. To study the in-vitro activities and current status of resistant of allitridi against 286 yeasts .To investigate the application of allitridi against yeasts with the method of K-B. These can provide easy method for resistant inspection of Chinese herbs and academic gist for rational use of medication against fungus. Methods: (1) The yeasts isolated from the People's Hospital of Wuhan University from January 2003 to August 2004. (2) Susceptibility testing was performed using a yeast disk diffudion method, Mueller-Hinton agar supplemented with2% glucose and 0.5mg/L methylene blue was used. (3) Minimal inhibitory concentration (MIC) of allitridi and fluconazole against 286 yeasts were determined by agar dilution method. To compare the MIC50 and MIC90 of allitridi and fluconazole against yeasts. (4) Minimal inhibitory concentration (MIC) of allitridi against yeasts of fluconazole resistant were determined by agar dilution method. (5) To study the most appropriate concentration of allitridi with K-B-method.Results: (1) The Strains of Candida albicans were the most frequent organism isolated which accounted for 67.6% of all the isolates. C. tropicalis, C. glabrata, C. parapsilosis, C. guilliermondii C. krusei and Cryptococcus neoformans accounted for 17.5%, 8.4%, 3.5%, 1.8% ,0.8%and 0.4%, respectively. Many factors including correlated serious original diseases, long course of hospitalization, aging, application of adrenocortical steroid and immunosuppressant et al. (2) The yeasts had higher sensitivity to amphotericin B(AMB), fluconazole (FCZ), nystatin (NYS) and flucytodine (5-FC), their rates of susceptibility were 97.9%, 90.9%, 89.5% and 88.8%, respectively. The resistance rate of miconazole (MIZ), ketoconazole (KET) and econazole (ECO) were high. (3) The rangeof MIC for allitridi against yeasts was 0.25-64 g/ml, MIC90 being in the range of 4-16 g/ml; The allitridi had a certain functions. Fluconazole was effective in vitro against C. albicans, C. tropicalis, C. parasilosis, the MIC90 was 4-16 g/ml while it was no use for other yeasts. (4) The allitridi have a certain functions to the resistant stains against FCZ. (5) the most appropriate concentration of allitridi with K-B-method was 20 g per disk. Conclusions: Hospital acquired infection of yeasts and resistance had an increasing tendency. Allitridi was effective against all these yeasts. The K-B-method could determine the Susceptibility results easily and rapidly. These could provide academic gist for rational use of medication against fungus.
