The medical botany is one of the important specialized basic courses of traditional Chinese pharmacal speciality. As a sort of morphology, it has been taught in the classroom for a period of considerable length, by the traditional old-fashioned teaching model, which badly restricts the development of the subject itself with the means being backward, the methods dull, the contents of course both abstract and dry as dust, so as not to meet the demands of talent persons needed in the society. The final task or objective of this multimedia experimental teaching reform is trying to thoroughly resolve the existent problems, which we' re confronted with in our real teaching, such as how to satisfy students' needs, to optimize the classroom teaching structure, etc., with the aim of improving the teaching efficiency greatly. The experimental teaching reform is completely done and based on the real teaching practice, being nailed down the experimental target, conformed experimental projects and strategies after making rigorous investigation, analyzing the main budy of students' present condition and needs and understanding the students' intention towards the course reform. Based upon the characteristics of its morphology course, this teaching experiment takes the reformation of teaching means as a bieakthrough, designing and creating the multimedia-assisted teaching courseware that matches the course characteristics, according to the principle ofteaching design, which is regarded as the main teaching software. This is formed a optimized medium cluster by combining the taditional teaching mediums (blackboard, practicalities, sample, etc) with modern teaching mediums (multi-media calculator and projectors, etc) in the light of the principle of multi-media combination. For the sake of deepening the reformation in education, this experiment proceeds with the reformation in the teaching target, teaching methods, content of courses, etc. For example, I try to optimize the teaching target and define various understanding levels of knowledge points relying on Brome' s classification theories of teaching target; above all, organize, outspread and reconstruct teaching contents in deference to the developing rule in things and the perception regulation. Moreover, I adopt teaching methods which are combined intuitionistic instruction with enlightenment according as the heuristic teaching principle in order to optimize classroom teaching structure and establish the new type of teaching model which accords with the subject characteristics.
