Taiwan is a beautiful island. Historically and geographically speaking, it is a very special place. It inherited the indigenous Chinese culture and continually absorbed the western culture at thesame time. Therefore, Taiwan could be considered as the confluence of the Chinese andwestern culture. The modern medicine in Taiwan advances on earth; meanwhile the traditionalmedicine gradually modernizes.Zhongjing is the core of the Chinese medicine, so the research on the development of traditionalChinese medicine in Taiwan may be started with it. The first paragraph of this disquisition wouldintroduce the situation of the traditional Chinese medicine in Taiwan with general history and tryto find when Zhongjing was delivered to Taiwan. Although there is no definite archives anddocument, the time is supposed to be in the Ming dynasty with some material. Then the second paragraph would systematically review, analyze, and criticize the situation ofthe research on Zhongjing in Taiwan. This disquisition would discuss with the research ofdocument and basic theory, the report of clinical investigation, and the result of laboratoryresearch. With the three aspects, it could be seen that Taiwan medicine is diligent and fruitful inthe research on Zhongjing which will develop better in the future. Before the 60's, the previous century, there was no Chinese medicine school in Taiwan, apprentices had to learn Chinese medicine from their tutors. The School of Chinese Medicine atChina Medical University was not established until 1966, hence, the specific examination inChinese medicine is necessary. No matter the specific examination or school education,Zhongjing is so important that it is the designated subject in examination and the required creditin school. This new form of drug is called scienceChinese medicine in Taiwan, and Zhongjing' s prescription came into being earlier. Because ofits convenience of carrying and storage and its improvement of stability of quality and quantity ofmedicament, it has been far and wide used. This is a characteristic of development of Chinesemedicine in Taiwan.Temples are the religious place and the consolation to souls. More or less, there is medicalscience—mostly traditional Chinese medicine—in temples in Taiwan. For example, there arequite a lot contents of Zhongjing in the prescriptions from Bao Sheng Da Di Temple. This disquisition would also discuss this part.It comes later in the development of Chinese medicine in Taiwan, so there're less professionalpieces, especially there's no sufficient related publication of Zhongjing. In consequence, mostof them are reprints of books of ancient physicians, and some are reprints of books of presentMainland China physicians and Japanese Han Fang Jia. Besides, there're some4 《伤'论》在台湾的发展史研究representative figures in Taiwan, such as Dr. Jiang Zuo-Jing, Dr. Zhang Bu-Tao, and Dr. YangWei-Jie, etc.Researches on Zhongjing are the combination of Zhongjing and present science both in Taiwanand Mainland China, and it's the tendency of science development. Due to the influence ofgeographic elements, differences of scientific thoughts and management system of medicalhealth in Taiwan and Mainland China, there's obvious difference between developments oftraditional Chinese medicine. If the two communicate more and exchange their experiences, itmust promote the prosperity for both and make significant influence on health of people andwelfare of socie...
