Chronic renal failure is a kind of complicated refractory clinic syndrome. Professor Guo names it "Xulaoshuiqi disease" and illustrates the key of the pathogenesis is deficiency of the spleen and kidney, resulting in the abnormal ascending and descending of the flow of Qi; internal retention of the damp turbidity which stagnates in triple jiao. Basing on this theory, Professor Guo puts forward the therapeutic principle should be supporting the vital Qi and eliminating the evils, tonifying deficiency and dispelling evils concurrently. On clinical application, the treatment should base on strengthening spleen and benefiting kidney to adjust vital Qi and apply one or more of the four methods "taking orally to remove the damp turbidity, clystering to discharge the damp turbidity, taking medicated bath to dispel the damp turbidity, spreading the ointment on the navel to drive away the damp turbidity" to remove the evils and regain health.
