The experiment was aimed at observing the protective effect of Zusanii plus different acupoints on the acute lesion of gastric mucosa in rats to explore the probable action mechanism. The contents of nitric oxide(NO)in serum and endothelin(ET)in the plasma were detected as well as the volume of gastric mucosa blood flow (GMBF)in rats which was induced by ethanol, meanwhile, the lesion index(LI)of the gastric mucosa and the relation of content changes between NO and ET were analyzed. The results were that after administration of ethanol to rats, the volume of GMBF and the contents of NO in serum decreased (P<0.01),while the contents of ET in the plasma and the LI of gastric mucosa increased (P<0.01).However,by pricking Zusanii in different acupoint-prescription with electroacupunture, the volume of GMBF and the contents of NO in the serum all increased in each group(P<0.01 or P<0.05),whereas the contents of ET and LI all decreased (P<0.01 or P<0.05).Meanwhile,it was found that different acupoint-prescription had different influence effect on the contents of therapeutic effectiveness among different formula groups and the formula of combination of Zusanii,Zhongwan and Neiguan was the best. The results of the experiment pointed out the protective effect of Zusanii plus mucosa ,and the best therapeutic effectiveness formula was the combination fo Zusanli,Zhongwan and Neiguan. The conclusion could be drawn that rational acupoint-prescription was important in improving clinical therapeutic effectiveness of acute gastric mucosal lesion(AGML)and the action mechanism of protecting injured gastric mucosa could be improve the volume of GMBF by regulating the contents of NO to ET in the blood.
