| Eosinophilic nonallergic rhinitis (ENR) Eosinophilic nonallergic rhinitis (ENR) is charactered by perennial episode. It belongs to endogenous and episodic disease. It has not transparent episodic history of allergenic aspiration in clinical observation. Its fit mostly relates to unspecific stimulation such as changes of air temperature, odo, fumes and its intermission of symptomless is fairly long. The etiological factor of this disease is not clear, and unrelates to allergic reaction. The corticosteroid can eliminate inflammation and remit tissular edema, so it is frequently used to the treatment of ENR, but not suitable to long-term usage.The ENR is similar to cold Bi-qiu of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), and charactered by wind, cold, weak and excessive fluid. As for Bi-qiu, most doctors of TCM considered its etiological factor consist of general debility of viscera and bowels, deficiency of Yang, attack of combination by wind and cold. With regard to treatment of Bi-qiu, past medical books have provided rich reference material for us. Xiaoqinglong Decoction (XD) and Flos Magnoliae Powder (FMP) are the prescriptions of this research.XD and FMP are both put pungent and warming herbs first, can treat cold fluid in the lung while attack of combination by wind and cold. So they are usually used to the therapy of cold Bi-qiu.XD tends to dispel phlegm and remove fluid, and its peculiarity is replenishing vital energy and astringe lung. FMP tends to dispel wind and cold, and its peculiarity is dispelling pathogenic heat of the lung and opens the aperture. Both prescriptions are similar, but each has its merits.furthermore, In the treatment of cold Bi-qiu, both prescriptions are generally accepted, so they posses the base of concentrated mixture. This topic is using the mixture of half amount of XD and FMP (named Added Xiaoqinglong Decoction, AXD) to treat ENR, and compare with XD and FMP.This topic is randomly dividing 69 ENR patients into XD group, FMP group and AXD group. All the patients scored the nosal cavit symptom, sign, nasal cellular diagram and constitutional symptom at the pretreatment, post-treatment and six months after the withdrawal, and evaluated the effect on the basis of the grade.The results displayed those three prescriptions all can notably ameliorate patient's conditions and posses the long-term effect. The sort of effect is AXD group ＞FMP group＞XD group. The amelioration of sneezing and nasal obstruction is also this condition, and the result proved they could better reflect the changes of patient's condition. XD's effect on Bi-qiu is the weakest. The result proved that FMP is aimed directly at wind and cold upward invading aperture is the chief formed mechanism of Bi-qiu. In addition, the superiority of AXD mainly depends on FMP. However, the effect of AXD on sneezing and nasal obstruction is better than FMP, and the result proved XD adds effect to FMP on treatment of the two symptoms. In a word, wind and cold are principal, weak and excessive fluid are subordinate on the formation of Bi-qiu.In the constitutional symptom, XD is the best to pharyngemphraxis, and no difference with AXD to cutaneous itching. The result proved that XD is good at the treatment of wind and cold or cold fluid lingering the channels and collaterals. FMP is not difference with AXD to dizziness and stuffiness sensation in the chest. The result proved that FMP is good at the treatment of wind and cold invading the upper burner and aperture. Three prescriptions are not difference to headache and diarrhe. This result is related to they can remove wind and cold, warm the middle burner and invigorate functioning of the spleen. Only AXD is effective to nasal cavit symptom, sign and constitutional symptom.
