Hippocampal slices is an important anatomic part associated with learning and memory and the pacemaker of epilepsy. So most neurobiologist and neuropharmacologist focus their research work on it.In my research work, field potential of brain slices has been analyzed and processed. I also developed a functional software, which can automatically measure the time domain parameters of field potential from the brain slices, such as amplitude, area, latency etc, it can also perform the frequency-domain analysis. Statistical function is another feature of the software, this make it very suitable for the electrophysiological experiments. This software has a nice Graphic User Interface, very easy to use. It also includes many features of general interest to neurobiologists, and can be used to analyze the signal recorded from the in vivo experiments.Using this system, we studied the effect of jujuboside A on the brain slices. And we found that jujuboside A can decrease the amplitude and the slope of the field potentials and increase the latency of it. This means that it can inhibit the excitement of the brain slices. The result shows that the system can be used to evaluate the effect of the drugs and to study the pharmacological properties.
