The dissertation relating to the infantile Spleen-deficiency diarrhea is composed of two parts. The first part deals with the advance of clinic research on etiological factor, pathogenesis, Zheng essentials, diagnosis, Zheng type, oral medicine, external treatment and food therapy about this kind of diarrhea. Furthermore, it predicts a tendency to vards the development of clinic research on different sciences and angles. The second part sums up professor Li Xiouliang's rich experience and new points of view in this disease. Especially it emphasizes that the chief etiological factors are the constitution factor, unsuitableness of eating and drinking, disorder of emotion and drug abuse; that the chief pathogenesis is weakness of Spleen and Stomach accompanying with downward flow of Dampness. It proposes that Prime Zheng of this disease consists of Qi- Deficiency of Spleen, Yang-Deficiency of Spleen and Yin-Deficiency of Spleen. The characteristics of differentiation of symptom and signs are inspecting face and inquiring into food and stool. The characteristics of therapy are summarized as follows: (1) Activating Spleen with fragrant medicine to invigorate Spleen to eliminate Dampness. (2) Ascending Yang and Qi to strengthen Spleen to check diarrhea. (3) Invigorating Kidney-Yang to warm and strengthen Spleen. (4) Using sour and sweet Herbs can nourish Yin to strengthen Spleen-Yin.
