OBThCTIVE: To probe into the essence of syndrome of accunulation of dampness inMiddle Jiao by mean of detecting the activity of Na+-K+ ATPase of erythrncyticmembrance and exo-endocellular electroIyte. METHOD: The sodium pump activity inrats among Model tyPe, theraPeutic tyPe and natural recovery type was tested by kit ofsodium pump activity of blood cytolysate membrance. axSULT: There was significantdecrease of sodium pump activity in the erythrocyte membrance in the model ofaccumulation of dampness in Middle Jiao, and the density of endocellular sodium and ofexocellular patassium were increased and of lowered respectively By using Y Jiao JianZheng Qi San, Na+-K+ ATPase gradually gained itS activity and the density ofendocellular Na+ and exocellular K+ was also normal. CONCLUSION: Wth the activityof Na+-K+ ATPase lowered, thc endocellular Na+ gathers and causes cell edema, which islikc1y to be the essence of symdrome of accumuIation of damPness in Middle Jiao. Y JiaJian ZlleT1g Qi San acts upon the s}'mdrome mentioned abovc by mcans of rcactivatingNa' -K' ATPaSe.
