In a sense of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Peptic Ulcer, according to the patients'clinical manifestations, is subordinate to the categories such as epigastric pain, stomachache, hiccup, gastric discomfort, belching. This paper discusses the clinical experiences in treating Peptic Ulcer that associate professor Lv Guanhua inherited from Professor Wang Changhong, a renowned doctor in the general hospital of Shenyang Military Area Command. Based on the principle of deficiency and excess, coupled with the causes and pathomechanisms of such a disease, gastroscope and inspection, tongue manifestations and pattern of the stomachache as well as the combination of the diseases and disease pattern, this paper makes a deep probe into his thinking in differentiating and treating Peptic Ulcer and way in which medicinals are adopted and applied. The distinguishing part is his medicinal adoption in treating refractory ulcer and the recurred ulcer. Special attention is given to which level can the ulcer be in terms of ulcer healing.According to the collection and classification about the ten-year papers (2001-2010)exploring the differential treatment of Peptic Ulcer in TCM, consistency is found in the papers discussing the causes and patomechanisms, patterns of syndrome differentiation, and medicinal usage of Peptic Ulcer through treatment based on deficiency and excess, demonstrating Lv Guanghua's comment on Peptic Ulcer --cold is only its manifestation, while deficiency and excess are its base with the excess being the root and deficiency being its outside sign--is consistent with clinical situations, which is very meaningful in instructing treatment.
