Along with the rapid development of modern medicine, nosocomial infection has become a more and more prominent issue, which gradually forming the global concern regarding the health condition of hospital population. After battling against the SARS that broke out in 2003, greater attention has been attached to the status quo of nosocomial infection development, the problems existing in the control and management process, and the standard and capacity building of nosocomial infection management and control.Based on statistics collected by the study which was also presided by the same author, Retrospective Study on Bacterial Spectrum Changes and Drug Resistance of Nosocomial Infections in 2007, this paper compared the infection documentation of Dongzhimen Hospital during the period of 2004-2006 from several aspects including the statistical distribution of gender, age, duration of hospitalization, department, and distribution of micro flora. Additionally, literature study, field research, interviews and tracking of nosocomial infections management of Dongzhimen Hospital's from 2007 to 2010 were conducted to analize the problems and their causes of nosocomial infections and to propose constructive recommendations for the control of nosocomial infection within inpatient wards at Dongzhimen Hospital.Post the outburst of SARS, the government has implemented regulations and laws which are considered to have greatly brought up the awareness among health care professionals for nosocomial infection. It is also witnessed that the incidence of nosocomial infection is forming a declining tendency. Hospitals are enhancing their capacities in the surveillance, prevention and control of nosocomial infection. However, the study revealed problems that deserve attention which are stated as follows:lack of awareness and importance attached to nosocomial infections, weak implementation of nosocomial infections prevention and control duties, limited area and space of the hospital encumbering human resources management relating to infection control implementation, and last but not least, the abuse of antibiotics are increasing the difficulties in entirely eliminating nosocomial infections.Based on the above findings, the following suggestions are proposed:firstly, strengthen the management of all staff regarding the significance of prevention and control of nosocomial infections; Ssecondly, intensify organizational management; thirdly, strenghthen the regulation for personnel; fourthly, promote rational and regulated use of drugs and tighten the management of antibioties classification.
