Total Health Expenditure (THE) is the sum of expenditure on health services in a country or a region during a certain period of time (usually 1 year). The research on THE could provide better data for health financing, allocation of health resources, the development of health economic policies, the development of regional health planning and the general health economic evaluation. So far, the national THE has been well developed. Sub-national (provincial, municipal) THE has been carried out in twenty regions in China for a long sequence of study. As the capital, Beijing researched its THE from 2007 to 2009 in 2010.The Accounting and Balance of Beijing Total Health Expenditure is one part of Beijing Total Expenditure on Health Report. The aim of the study was to analyze the gap of the results between Beijing THE by source of funding and by provider and to find the reason. The study enriched Beijing Total Health Expenditure Research. It provided a new research perspective for other regions. It also contributed to the sub-national THE.According to the conditions and characteristics of Beijing, the study was about to find the specificity and the gap between Beijing THE by source of funding and by provider. At the same time, the available data from national total health services survey is used to analyze the results of imbalance between expenditure by source of funding and expenditure by provider in a county.The main results of this research are as follows:The THE results of three years (2007,2008,2009) by provider was more than by source of funding. They were 7.671 billion Yuan,6.589 billion Yuan, and 23.626 billion Yuan. The gap can be explained 65.54%,98.62%, and 38.27% respectively.
