Palpitation is a common disease in clinic.It has very complicated cause and pathogenesis. Palpitation relates to many viscera and has high incidence of disease. The fast tempo of life in modern society may cause nervouse, tired, anxious in mind and they can change into the cause of palpitation. There is unique experience and curative effect in prevention and cure palpitation using TCM(traditional Chinese medicine). The doctors of past dynasties accumulated large number of document and material in preventing and curing palpitation. Far from Shanghan Lun, discussing of .doctors from different times, the thesis noted the origin and development of palpitation.There are four parts in the thesis. In the first part, the author discussed the origin and change of the name of "palpitation". In the second part, the author discussed the cause and pathogenesis of palpitation. The third part is the point, discussing the development of the treatment of the palpitation based on syndrome differentiation. There are three sections in this part.In the first section, the author discussed the syndrome of the palpitation described by doctors from the Spring and Autumn Period(770-476 B.C.)to the modern times. In the second section, the author discussed the change of the principle of treatment following times, including the great doctor ZhangZhongJing and others. In the last section, the author introduced the medicine used by different doctors. Through the discuss, the author indicated that the cause of palpitation is very complicated and diversified. The last part of the thesis is the cases of palpitation's cure. Through analyzing these cases, the author indicated that the principles in TCM such as searching for the primary cause of disease in treatment, diagnosis and treatment based on overall analysis of symptoms and signs and treatment in accordance with physique of a individual, are very important and be used usually.
