Chinese Medicine Clinical Research, With The Traction For The Treatment Of Lumbar Disc Herniation

Lumbar disc herniation(LDH) is a clinnicaly common disease because of its recurrent pain symptom which affects the life quality of patients seriously. In addition, it is extremely difficult to treat for the elders due to the complicated history and the long span. However, our exploration and study of Lumbar disc herniation are never halted. With the development of medicine,the treatment methods for LDH became more and more while we still intend to improve and perfect the above treatment methods in practice.Our topics intend to elucidate pathogenesis of Lumbar disc herniation,current research about LDH and the related treatment, as well as clinical studies about Chinese medicine and traction treatment for liver and kidney deficiency type of LDH.The former 3 parts is a review which illuminates pathogenesis of Lumbar disc herniation in TCM through injury, strain, liver and kidney deficiency and so on; surveys the treatment for LDH in TCM through Chinese drug, acupuncture, Chinese traditional manipulation and comprehensive treatments and so on; finally, documents current treatment for LDH in modern medicine throgh non-surgical treatment, interventional therapy and surgery treatment. Summary of the above3 parts about LDH in traditional Chinese medicine and in modern medicine provide clinical treatment with an important guidance role.The latter part is Clinical research about LDH. This part intent to be elucidated as follows:Objective:To observe the treatment effect of both Chinese medicine(my tutor's experience recipe - Jian Yao Li Jin) and traction on the liver and kidney deficiency type lumbar disc herniation and to explore its related mechanism and characters.Methods:60LDH patients in Eastern Hispital of BUCM from July 2010 to March 2011 are randomly divided into treatment group and control group the treatment group.-the LDH patients in treatment group are treated with Jian Yao Li Jin and traction while the LDH ones in control group was treated with diclofenac sodium sustained-release tablets for 3 weeks. The therapeutic effect is assessed according to JOA score rule.The results showed that:The total effective rate in treatment group is 83.3%, higher than the one in control group 80%,however,but there is no significant difference between the two groups.The above results indicae that the treatment effects of LDH in the above two group have a similar effect while the side-effects of Chinese medicine are relatively less.Discussion and conclusion:According to the above statistical analysis results about the two groups before and after treatment, from the views of compatibility features in Chinese medicine and drug research,in addition, combining with my tutor's view of treatment experience about LDH, a conclusion is drewed that a perfect treatment effect combining Chinese drug Jian Yao Li Jin and traction for LDH is gained and its side-effects is relatively less.As a result, the above treatment for LDH have a perfect meaning in clinic practice.
