As national defense high-tech project, aviation products have the characteristics of complex technology, pressing time limitation, highly risky, and highly complicated. It is urgent to introduce advanced management methods and realize the modernization of management method, technology and means. In nowadays, traditional management method is still used in most national defense projects of our country, and the advanced theory and method of project management has not used systematically yet. It is one of the important means for improving the industry management level and product quality by using scientific and normalized management method suitable for the domestic aviation industry. In this paper, engineering oriented project management method is used, a summary is made on the application of project management technology in aviation products development, and a thorough study is carried out. The experiences of the successful project PM (PM) are presented, which have great significance for reference in aviation industry engineering and practice.Taking the engineering project of F-2 type aircraft of AVIC I as the target task, and the application of PM in aviation product development as the focus of study, the theory and technology of project PM are analyzed at first. Then the main technologies of PM are summarized, including the signification and features of each technology, and a systematic analysis is presented on how to select the project PM technologies. The characteristics of the domestic aviation product development are analyzed, and the measures taken in PM normalization of the product development are summarized.On which basis, a thorough analysis is carried out on how to adopt PM in F-2 aircraft project, with focuses on the scope planning, schedule planning, cost planning and project risk planning and its control of the project. New ideas and methods are put forward on schedule planning optimization and planning assessment. In the end, an all-around summary is presented on the PM technologies used in development of F-2 aircraft, and an expectation is given on the application of PM technology in aviation product development.The purpose of this thesis is to improve the management of the domestic aviation product development, especially the PM level, and normalize the industry management routine, therefore to increase the aviation weapon level of our country, and speed up the domestic aviation weapon development.
