Study Of Technological Progress On Employment

Technological progress and its tremendous material force speed up the pace of China's new industrialization. At present, to deal with the increasingly severe unemployment problem, research the employment impact of technological advances has become an important research orientation of employment. This article is from this perspective to proceed to try to explore China's technological progress on employment effects. This paper based on the classical theory of Marx and the Western non-Marxist economists, and gives a description of China's technological progress evolution and employment history. Combination of theoretical foundation and the own characteristics of China's technological progress and employment evolution, the article analyzes the general mechanism of the impact of technological advances to the employment. From the labor supply and labor demand side, find the middle of the variables with explanatory power. By analyzing the impact of technological advances to the middle of factors, further analysis of the mechanism of the employment impact of technological advances. Then conduct an empirical test of the employment impact of technological advances. The main contribution of this paper is, by an empirical analysis of seven Chinese representative provinces and municipalities in the year 1978-2007, we have come to this conclusion:technological progress promotes the employment in the 30 years after the China's reform and opening. And further more, the article gives the technology-based measures to expand employment.
