By summing up of research into overall development and tourism development of urban waterfront in the world, this thesis attempts to carry on a case study of Huangpu river tourism development from a entire perspective of tourism, and provide a mode as reference resource of waterfront tourism development of some rising cities in our country.The thesis is divided into nine chapters with main contents of three aspects:Part one: take an overview on the macroscopic context and significance of urban waterfront tourism development, definite the research contents and theoretical principle. Particularly elaborate the cognition of urban waterfront, from four aspects of the relations between water and city, the connotation of urban waterfront, the significance of urban waterfront in city development and the necessity of urban waterfront tourism development.Part two: sum up research results of urban waterfront development and tourism development from multi-level. On that basis, specially analyze and compare the successful cases on waterfront tourism development, London Docklands, Chicago waterfront and the West Lake, and sum up the respective successful experience. Part three: the important part of this thesis. Aim at research at and discussion on the Huangpu river tourism development, with two sections: firstly, by summing up the function transitions and view transitions of Huangpu river and analyzing the present situation and opportunities of Huangpu river tourism development, lay out the issues of Huangpu river tourism development. Secondly, by applying the theoretical research results and successful experience, probe the tourism development mode of Huangpu river, from four aspects of development philosophy, spatial framework, product development and development management, and table proposals of Huangpu river tourism development from views of landscape design, historic relics protection and residents interests.
