The Chinese prescription drug manufacturing industry has been facing significant challenges generated from the multinational companies' penetration Chinese market after WTO, domestic competition, government regulatory reform, and globalization. There are many critical issues that the domestic prescription drug manufacturers have to tackle including: how to practically adapt international marketing ideas into local practice to acquire competitive advantage; how to modify and adjust the market strategy in ever-changing competitive environment to take advantage of effective marketing model to growth the business and profitability;To summarize, this essay starts from basic marketing principles, discussing how prescriptions drug manufacturers have taken customers value as the fundamental of marketing strategy under current market and competitive environment. Then after elaborate the characteristics of the prescription drug market, purchasing behavior, and marketing model analysis, this essay is trying to identify the factors that drive the changes of companies' business environment, in which the relationship between these factors and the selection of marketing models is defined. Finally, this essay uses Beijing Huasu company business, challenges, and marketing strategy development as case study with business model analysis to analyze the interaction and inter-relationship among company strategy, marketing strategy and system, competitive environment, customers, and business organization and supporting systems of prescription drug manufacturers, and how companies can best develop and define their marketing strategy.
