Our country's fast growth of the economy always relies on the investment and exports, but the contribution of consumption to economic growth becomes less and less, especially the household consumption. Under the current situation of global economic recession, it is especially important to inspire the consumer's confidence and expand the consumption demand. Expand the consumption is not a temporary response to the economic crisis, but rather a long time strategy to promote the economic development steadily and rapidly. This paper choose Beijing city people as study object, and proceeded the quantitative exploration on chief influence of Beijing city people's consuming behavior, in order to enhance Beijing city people's consumption and improve consumption pattern, simultaneously benefit to other cities people's consumption. This paper tested the factors which influence the Beijing city people's consumption, and thinked that income, income gap and precautionary saving were the main factors. So the article proceeded the empirical analysis from the three points respectively, and had drawn the following conclusion: income was an effective factor to adjust the residents' consumption:if income increases, the consumption will increase correspondingly; if income decreases, the consumption will decrease correspondingly; if income changes, then consumption will be influenced a lot. The widening income gap had different influence to Beijing city people's consumption during different period: it promoted Beijing city people's consumption from 1986 to 2000, but turned to restrain Beijing city people's consumption growth since 2000. At the same time, Beijing city people had strong motive of precautionary saving. Institution's change caused the people to live faced with many uncertainty. People's deposits were no longer surplus after expense, but a result of initiative and consciously economic activities, which to a certain extent had affected the improvement of people's consumption demand. Finally this paper put forward corresponding policy recommendations according to the above conclusions.
