Post-quota Era Of China's Textile Industry Competitiveness Study

The textile industry has played an important role for the development of Chinese national economy. Recently, the admission of China into World Trade Organization and the abolishment of quota system have brought Chinese textile industry new opportunity as well as new challenge. In general, Chinese textile industry has gained relatively strong competitive advantage in the past twenty years. The plentiful natural resource, the abundant human resource pool and the increasingly domestic demand have provided substantial foundation for the development of textile industry. However, the deficit of the textile industry in terms of innovation and updating also manifested. The technical innovation creating mechanism was far from maturely developed. The insufficiency existing in the key section of innovation creating mechanism would disadvantage the further sustainable development of textile industry in the future.Recently, the admission of China into World Trade Organization and the abolishment of quota system have brought Chinese textile industry new opportunity as well as new challenge. So in this thesis, the diamond model of advantage competitive was adopted as the analysis framework. The competitive advantage and disadvantage of Chinese textile industry were qualitatively discussed in terms of fours determinant factors, factor conditions, demand condition, related and supporting industries, firm strategy, structure and rival, as well as two influencing factors, opportunity and government. And it finally gives some suggestions on how to improve the competitive ability of China's textile industry.
