After The Cold War, Transnational Corporations And International Political Relations Study

The multinational corporation is the product of globalization of production and the development of information technology. Since the end of the cold war, the economic globalization has already become the most basic characteristic, the irresistible historical trend and main melody of the present world economic development. The multinational corporation takes the world important economic carrier and the international relations behavior body, which is the important force of economic globalization. Some large-scale multinational corporations are strong enough to defend the other countries. Multinational corporations' influence is ubiquitous, and has already penetrated into the world politics, economy, culture and the relations among transnational corporations are closer and closer, thus the world-famous Robert Gilpin even called this age as"an age of multinational corporations". This thesis started from the concept of multinational corporations, then analyzed the characteristics of after war multinational corporations. The present study emphasized on the influences of multinational corporations on after war world politics and vice versa.The thesis is mainly divided into three parts:The first part mainly focused on the multinational corporation's concept, development process and new characteristic after cold war. The multinational corporation refers to the stock-company or not which is composed of the parent company and the overseas branch ones.After the multinational corporation passes through the pioneering stage, the slow development phase and the fast growth stage, after the cold war, its development presented the new characteristic: the multinational corporation becomes highly active and rapidly expanding; Multinational corporation's annexation and the purchase tide surge wave upon wave; The Multinational corporations widely conclude the international strategic alliance, and its management scope is getting more and more widespread with its business is getting more and more diverse and complex.The second part mainly focused on the multinational corporation's influence to international politics. The influence is bigger and bigger. The multinational corporation made various countries' economy depend more on each other, transnational operations financial risk internationalization, as well as unification international economy regular and international mechanism function, in urgent need each country and the area strengthen the international cooperation. After the cold war, multinational corporations contribute to world overall peace situation. Because the multinational corporation is the most powerful group in all interest subjects, in a sense, the multinational corporation attenuated the nation-state sovereignty. Its worldwide scale deployment investment pattern also determined motherland diplomacy and national security policies. In order to reduce the cost, the multinational corporations pursue enterprise benefit maximization passes the burden the pollution desirably, gets rid of the motherland and the host country control, smuggles avoids taxes, the escape community responsibility, reduced the host country tax revenue, harms the host country benefit, the developed country use"the green barrier", limited the developing country product entry, expanded the gap between rich and poor, intensified the north and south to be contradictory.The third part mainly analyses the influence of international politics on multinational corporations. It is mainly manifested in the motherland and the host country government's policy and the adjustment, the international politics economy synchronizing gear as well as the international politics environment. The motherland government has restrictive intervention to multinational corporations' behavior, also has the supports and encourages. The host country's intervention policy is now the multinational corporation policy's main body. Currently, investments stimulations become the major means of developing countries do attract foreign investments. Various organizations of UN such as the World Trade Organization, the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank and so on played the influential role to multinational corporation's coordinated development and the promotion international economic cooperation. Although peace and the development were still now the world mainstream, yet the partial conflict and the ethnic conflicts still exist, the turbulent political situation brings the huge risk for the transnational operations. After the cold war, in the international politics domain, the multinational corporations have already become the important component of"the economic diplomacy". The political power alternates, bilateral or the multilateral diplomacy's changes, especially factors such as international terrorism will affect multinational corporations' development.
