China's national economy grew fast in recent years. Its iron & steel industry developed very quickly with annual rate of 10% or so for several years in succession. In 2007, with the quickening pace of mergers and acquisitions in steel industry, part of common steel manufacturers shifted into the special steel sector. Large quantities of special steel production lines have been established and put into operation leading to overproduction capacity and severer completions.Building Baosteel into the most competitive iron & steel enterprise in the world has become the strategic target of Baosteel, Special Steel Branch of Baosteel will aim high to develop Special Steel Branch to be an internationally first-class and domestically top-grade special steel elaborate manufacturing site. So it is significant and profound to take the theory exploration of marketing on special steel products, for guiding the practice process as well as guaranteeing the market status and competitive advantage of Baosteel's special steel.Focusing on Baosteel's special steel, this article aims to clarify the competition strategy, market orientation and target markets for Baosteel's special steel by analyzing its supply and demand, competitive environment. It also put forward new competitive strategy and marketing strategy, such as integration of marketing value chain, full process service, and quick response, integration of product, sales and R&D. It is expected to promote Baosteel Special Steels Branch's marketing.
