The selection and management of suppliers are the important aspects of supply chain management. Effective supplier management is critical to both the whole supply chain and an individual company. Now suppliers have become a kind of strategic chip, and the effective means of improving the company's competitive power as well. Those who possess the suppliers with special advantage will win the competitive advantage. By strengthening the management of suppliers, we can shorten the delivery period, improve the product quality, reduce the cost and improve the flexibility of the company in the market competition. Measures such as scientific selection and management of suppliers, building a reasonable selection and management system, consistently optimizing the company's supply network are of great significance to improving the efficiency of supplier management and enhancing the company's core competitive power. How the manufacturing company use new thoughts, new technology, new methods to improve their supplier management and adopt them to each step of supply chain management and manufacturing and realize the value increment has become the key point for the whole supply chain in the competition.This thesis elaborates on the basic concepts, characteristics and development trend. Under the present supply chain circumstances, the thesis takes the status quo and existing problems of supplier management for home appliances manufacturing company in China into full consideration. It explores how to develop different supplier management strategies based on the importance of purchasing products and services to the company's competition and profit-making capability in the supply market so that the company's resources can be put into full use to reach the balance state and realize the efficient operation management. On the basis of theoretic methods such as evaluation and selection of supplier, it analyses factors and implementary procedures for evaluating and selecting core supplier which is of important significance to the company. It also sets up the index system for evaluation and selection of supplier. Then it goes deep into several main aspects that focus on the maintenance of core supplier relations and management improvement. In the end, the author takes Haier as an example, combining the aforementioned theoretic frame, discovers the disadvantage of Haier through comparison and analysis of its present purchasing and supplier management, and put forward some suggestions and plans for the improvement. The research result of this thesis can be used as the references for our home appliances manufacturing companies to carry on the effective supplier management.
