The research on the influential factors of individual working performance has been an important topic in the performance research. Individual working performance is the single most pervasive outcome variable in micro-organizational behavior. It is also the base of company performance, which playing an important role on the management. Recently, more attention has been focused on different environmental factors that can affect the individual working performance. However, only few researches were about the effect between individual working performance and knowledge management ability. The purpose of this paper is to exam the relationship between these two factors.Based on the induction method, one questionnaire was specifically designed for the present research to measure knowledge management ability and individual working performance in China. The questionnaire consists of 3 key factors of the knowledge management ability which were proved to be feasible by using factor analysis. The result indicates that the factors of knowledge management ability and individual working performance have been redefined. A new model for the relationship has been built up. In addition, the relevant assumptions for the new model have been proposed. Finally, 158 formal questionnaires were collected from the companies in different places of China. Pearson correlation analysis, canonical correlation analysis were carried out to test the conception model and related assumptions. The results of the statistic indicate:(1) A significant positive correlation between the 3 key factors of knowledge management ability and individual working performance (staff integrated capabilities and task performance) was found by using Pearson correlation analysis; (2) knowledge management ability is an important factor to influence individual performance analyzed by canonical correlation; (3) Process ability—one of the three key factors of knowledge management ability plays an important role in improving both the staff integrated capabilities and task performance. Although some valuable findings were gained, it cannot be ignored that some limitations of the present research are needed to be improved in further researches.
