The research on the influential factors of individual working performance has been an important topic in the performance research. Individual working performance is the single most pervasive outcome variable in micro-organizational behavior. It is also the base of company performance, which playing an important role on the management. Recently, more attention has been focused on the leadership, which is an environmental factor that can affect the individual working performance. However, only few researches were carried out on this effect. The purpose of this paper is to exam the relationship between the leadership and the individual working performance.Based on the frequency analysis and induction method, one questionnaire was specifically designed for the present research to measure leadership and individual working performance in China. The questionnaire consists of 7 key factors of the leadership, which were extracted from 105 valid testing questionnaires by using factor analysis. The result indicates that the factors of leadership and individual working performance have been redefined. A new model for the relationship has been built up. In addition, the relevant assumptions for the new model have been proposed. Finally, 368 formal questionnaires were collected from the companies in the East and West of China. Pearson correlation analysis, canonical correlation analysis, and One-Way ANOVA analysis were carried out to test the conception model and related assumptions. The results of the statistic analysis indicate: (1) A significant positive correlation between the 7 key factors of leadership and individual working performance (staff task performance and context performance) was found by using Pearson correlation analysis; (2) Leadership is an important factor to influence the individual working performance analyzed by canonical correlation;(3) Individualworking performance varies by the different level of leadership in different companies, either the state-owned company or the non state-owned company, One-Way ANOVA analysis showed. Although some valuable findings were gained, it cannot be ignored that some limitations of the present research are need to be improved in further researches.
