Port Operations Capability Studies

The port is a national and the area important economical resources, the port not only produces GDP and the national income, but also creates the employment opportunity. The port is leading the area industry and the trade development. Thus it can be seen the port has the pivotal status and the function in the national economy as well as in the local economy development.Although the port can have the massive economical contribution, But the port is a complex operation system, a little problem of port operation maybe cause the whole effect of port operation to be deficient, it is a key question that how to enhance the capacity of port operation to keep the port a sustaining development.This article explores to use the thought of operation management, base on three aspects of the time, the profit, the quality synthetic study capacity of port operation, and Separately establishes system dynamics models of the time, the profit, the quality, then validates the model by demonstration analysis.Firstly, this article defines the concept of capacity of port operation, and uses this concept establish three systems of the time, the profit and the quality, then conducts the qualitative investigation and the introduction to three systems. Because three systems are the mutual connection, complement one another, and constituted a complex system, therefore this article has used the quantitative investigation method which unifies system dynamics and the regression analysis. Finally this article utilized the model to a concrete port, take this port's 2000-2004 year statistical data as the foundation, carried on the simulation using the model, in the simulation process, has used vensim PLE and SPSS software to conduct the research, according to the present development rate, the article outputs the results of three systems from the year 2001 to 2010.This article has studied the port operation capacity, and constructed the system dynamics model of port capacity using the principle of system dynamics, the constructed model in the article had the certain versatility, which will provide the beneficial reference for the port operation.
