The concept of 3PL (third party logistics) spread into China, and gained attention from every field in the middle of 1990s. Developing through these several years, 3PL began to hold the scale already in China, and showed the tendency of continuous development. Due to the large logistics market in our country, numbers of third party logistics or similar companies sprang up in over a decade. Among which the middle level logistics companies are developing the fastest. No matter from the view of company scale, business geographical coverage rate or logistics service level, they are all classified to middle location. From one hand, these companies posses many basic logistics facility and large-scale manufactured companies as long-term customers. From other hand, firstly they are not able to provide supply-chain-management or integrated logistics service according to customers' unique requirement; secondly their business network coverage is limited to local province, as the result of which they haven't established core competency of advanced logistics service provider. According to the characteristics of these logistics companies and macro background of logistics market, the writer propose some suggestions and measures of establishing the core competence of advanced logistics service provider to these middle logistics service providers.The preview of this paper includes research background, research significant, process of investigation and structure of this paper. Charpter one includes brief introduction of 3PL such as the definition, its development strategy and developing status, which is the macro environment of middle logistics companies to establish core competency of advanced logistics service. Taking company A for example, the following part emphasizes on definition of middle logistics service providers, which is combined with space geometry theories to seem traditional classifying measures as variables. And then analyses these companies' strength and weakness. The third part wholly introduces the theory of enterprise core competency, according to which charpter four concludes the concrete core competency of middle logistics companies to establish in the process of developing further. Finally takes company A for example, last part of this paper firstly introduces developing status of Changshu city, secondly analyses the necklace and challenge of company A, thirdly base on all above proposes suggestions and measures for company A to establishing core competency of advanced logistics service provider. After main body, writer concludes the whole content and looks into the future of middle logistics company.In conclusion, global and national 3PL developing status plays as the research macro background in this paper, the theory of enterprise core competency as theory base, the realistic condition of middle logistics companies as the premise, all above serve for the ultimate purpose to propose suggestions and measures for middle logistics company to establish core competency of advanced logistics provider. Sincerely hope this paper will be beneficial for these companies to develop better, faster and take right actions to participate market competition.
