Along with the transition of economic system and the transformation of social structure in China, as a new form of employment, informal employment has been brought to China quietly. After ten years'development, it has relieved our country's employment pressure to a certain extent, but at the same time it also brings a series of new employment in the area of employment, such as the right damage of informal employment groups. Today, the development of informal employment has attracted many experts and scholars coming from the field of sociology and economics. From economic angle, which is mentioned in the economic and financial field but wasn't studied, this paper explores and analyses the question of informal employment, this has theoretic and realistic significance.This paper adopts the combination of summing up and deducing, the unity of Qualitative and Quantitative Analysis, inheritance and innovation unified method. Aiming at through the economic study of informal employment, explores three questions. The first is the definition and the real original theories of informal employment. The second is the economic reasons why informal employment generated in both developing and developed countries, especially in China. The third is specific situation of informal employment's supply and demand in China.This paper divides into five parts altogether. Part one is the preface, introduces the aim and the meaning of the research, the domestic and overseas former documents, the content, the methods and the innovations of the research. Part two is on the basis of searching formal document, summarizes the definition of informal employment given by ILO, Chinese government, experts and scholars; five original theories such as dual economy theory of Lewis, Labor migration theory of Michacl P. Todro. Part three analyses the economic reasons for informal employment generated in both developing and developed countries, especially from the aspect of Macroeconomic regulators and microeconomic participants, analyses deep reasons in China. Part four generalizes characteristics, analyses supply and demand of informal employment in China, then puts forward new ideas and suggestions, in the hope of that it may be helpful for the government to constitute the employment measures. Part five is the tag, summarizes the thesis and puts forward the issues that should be studied in the following research.
