Shandong Provincial Oceanic Economic Development Research

With the exhaustion of land resources, the better use of oceanic resources and development of marine economy are the important approaches for relieving the pressures from the over population, shortage of natural resources and environmental pollution. It is a strategic choice for realizing the fast economic growth and powering the economic strength in China. The dissertation explores the approaches for marine economic development, the selection and cultivation of key oceanic industries, the layout of marine economy in the new era of economic development in Shandong Province as well as the related strategies and measures with an aim of providing theoretical guidance for local governments and authorities of different levels to formulate policies of promoting sustainable, fast, healthy and coordinated development of marine economy.The dissertation is divided into seven parts:Part One, an overview of related marine economic study, is of two sections. The first section is on the fundamental study on marine economic development, while the second section discusses the connotation of marine economics and classification of oceanic industries in an effort to base the research on the foundation of economic theory.Part Two analyzes development trend of marine economic development in China and the rest of the world in order to provide well-tested ideas and practices for developing marine economy in Shandong Province.
