As the largest economics of Asia-Pacific, the Sino-Japanese trade has exerted a significant impact on both economies sustained and healthy running. With standards and standardization activities have been infiltrated into all aspects of bilateral trade, more and more varieties of standards are widely used in the Sino-Japanese trade. As a developing country and the major trading power of the world, China is in a disadvantageous position of the standard area. So china is frequently suffered standards barriers from Japanese which has made greatly negative impact on China's Foreign Trade. Based on the study of mechanism which between standards and international trade, we used the bilateral trade model of developing and developed countries to analyzing the effect of standards which at different levels on the bilateral trade. An empirical analysis was made in this paper, using panel regression methods on the basis of China's and Japan's panel data about trade scale and standards stock which authorized by the International Standard Classification (ICS) of the 1992-2007years. The results show that standards stock is an important factor affecting Sino-Japanese bilateral trade. Standards of different nature will have different effects on the bilateral trade. Specifically, national standards of both countries can promote their exports and restrict imports, but standards of China make less effect than Japan because a gap is exist in their standards development. International standards which reflect the demands of the standards-setting country can't promote the other's exports. It can be see: all the different countries want to protect their economic interests by using international standards. So in the development of the Sino-Japanese bilateral trade, China should pay more attention to perfect their standards system and improve the level of international standards.
