As market competition becomes increasingly fierce, most of the assembly and test processes are transferred to OEM factories by many IC enterprises. Only R&D is covered by themselves for cost saving.AII the Numonyx semiconductor chips are produced in about 10 OEM factories in Asia. But below problems are faced by them: How can the loadings and raw materials be accurately allocated and replenished in different factories? How can so many products be produced and delivered on time? Therefore, timely information sharing and integration throughout the supply chain should be improved.More and more shipment delay issues are complained by customers due to the improper capacity allocation among Numonyx's OEM factories. Then it is analyzed the necessity to use OLAP tool to allocate capacity. Firstly, the front-end SAP BO display tool can be used to provide multi-dimension data query and analysis to obtain the production status and material consumption information. Then the time, product and cycle time's dimensions can be drilled and rotated to get the products list each factory can produce. Most importantly, it is discussed that the factories' inventory, production cycle time and productivity information can be analyzed by OLAP tools. So more than 300 products' capacity allocation can be defined in each OEM factory. Finally, the OLAP mining technology is also introduced to control each factory's production cycle time and yield.
