| In recent years, with the continuous advance of economic globalization, many countries strive to attract foreign direct investment (FDI) and the strong incentive for this is the possible existence of FDI technology spillovers. In contrast to earlier literature, which focused on intra-industry spillovers from FDI, this study aims to investigate technology spillovers operating through backward linkages. Liaoning, a Large industrial province, FDI technology spillovers also played an important role in facilitating Technological progress.Firstly, this paper analyses the mechanism of FDI technology Spillovers, including motive power, channel and specific effect; then analyses the situation about FDI in Liaoning. On this basis, the existence of technology spillovers and its influence factors are tested.This paper makes research on the technology spillover effect of FDI in Liaoning through backward linkages. It establishes a regression model to reflect the relationships between FDI and its backward spillovers, and makes an empirical analysis, Based on the data of 30 industry sectors in Liaoning from 2003-2008. Finally, the paper proposed some recommendations on how to facilitate technology spillovers.The result shows that FDI has remarkable spillovers via backward linkage, it also means that backward linkage is indeed an important channel for overflowing, however, compared with other cities, there is still much room for improvement. From results of different levels of technology at the industry data and the aggregation of foreign enterprises, we know that in the mid-high technology and low-tech manufacturing industry group, inter-industry technology spillovers via backward linkages are significantly positive, and in the high-tech and low-mid technology manufacturing industry group, inter-industry technology spillovers are not significant; and the stronger the aggregation of foreign enterprises is, the more obvious backward spillover is. on the contrary, it is not obvious. |
