Suspended Monorail Transportation Technology Is Applied Research In Mountain

Nowadays, the main mode of transport in mountain scenic area is by road, but the road traffic area has lots of problems in mountainous, such as:steep and long, curving and turning urgent, narrow (in tourist season, it's easy to cause traffic congestion), poor visibility, easy affected by bad weather, high accident frequency, high cost, difficult maintenance, poor accessibility, high dependency on fossil fuels, great speed-restriction, destruction of vegetation, cutting off animal channels, causing drivers' high tension. Transportation Research Group of PRT (Personal Rapid Transit) in North China University of Technology is trying to solve these problem by its technology of PRT, which has these features such like:safe, economic, energy saving, land saving, environment-friendly, fast, convenient, direct accessing, auto-driving possible. Started with the brief introduction of the development of PRT, this paper takes a overview of the problems of the transportation in mountain scenic area, based on which a research on The System of Suspended monol Transit is done by our group, and several issues about the application of PRT in mountain scenic area have been discussed, such as about line arrangement, security, environment protection, technology, finance, etc.The suspended single-track transit discussed in this paper has the following advantages: free turning on track, the quality of cars as well as the convenience and rapidity of rail transit, which is free of the influence of bad weather and has almost no limits to the construction site. At the same time, the application of this system and its feasibility and necessity in mountain scenic area are discussed, and the details are well design such as settlement of tracks, bus stop building and the operation mode. Meanwhile, the economical benefits in development and application of PRT in mountain scenic area are also anglicized. Thus, the application of PRT in mountain scenic area is promising, which is offing a new choice in solving its tough traffic problems.
