The basic idea of Software radio is to construct an open, standard, modular, common hardware platform that will use the software to accomplish various functions, with the ultimate aim to make communication systems from the limit of the hardware system architecture. It is convenient and cost less to improve and upgrade the system by realizing various functions with software. And it is easier to implement interconnection between different systems and compatible.Software Communications Architecture (SCA) was originally put forward by the US Army to use SDR in Joint Tactical Radio System, and now is the core technology of SDR. SCA defines the software architecture, hardware architecture, security architecture and API interface specification of modular software- -programmable radio, which aims to achieve the radio hardware modularization, software portability, reusability and interoperability. SCA also illustrates the radio hardware and software interactponents. Although the SCA is from the military project, but the methods and purpose of SCA specifications is becoming increasingly influenced by both the military and non-military attention, and entering the commercial and civil areas.This article takes SCA-based modulation recognition waveform as an example. In this article, the process of SCA waveform development is analyzed, the development, generation, installation and deployment of the application component are discussed. At the beginning, the basic idea and core application of SDR are depicted, and the definition of SCA is introduced. Then the core technology such as Common Object Request Broker Agent (CORBA), Core Framework (CF) and Open Source SCA Implementation::Embedded (OSSIE) are illustrated. OSSIE is a kind of waveform developer environment, and it is more efficient than the traditional waveform development. Based on the research of core technology of OSSIE, the SCA waveform development method base on OSSIE is put foword. By analysis of modulation recognition, components division and ports design are completed from the specification of signal processing, and the development, installation, unistallation running and testing of waveform are accomplished. The results show that the waveform design meets the reusability and dynamic load characteristics of waveforms, and is consistent with the relevant characteristics of SCA.
