The radio resource management (RRM) is playing an increasingly important role in the third generation (3G) mobile communication system. As an important part of RRM, congestion control guarantees the QoS requirement and stability of system, by choosing the appropriate transmission parameters for different services. Since CDMA2000 has been one of the mainstream standards of 3G mobile communication systems, and EVDO is the CDMA2000 1x evolution version, the research on the congestion control for EVDO system is an important topic.According to the needs of the optimization of the congestion control algorithms for EVDO system, this thesis mainly studies two important parts of the algorithm: ROT control algorithm (AN side) and rate control algorithm (AT side). The main innovative work and contributions in the thesis are as followings:1. For CDMA system's load control algorithms, this thesis investigates the constitution of the EVDO system's reverse traffic channel and the function of the reverse traffic channel;2. For ROT control algorithm, this thesis investigates the maximum reverse link capacity satisfying ROT limitation , following by analyzing the influence of ROT thresholds and inter-sector interference on the system performance;3. This thesis designs a single 3-sector cell system based on the developed simulation platform to verify the influence of the position distribution of users on the inter-sector interference;4. Based on the inter-sector interference, this thesis provides a new method to redurce the inter-sector interference;5. For two rate control algorithms prescribed by 3GPP2, this thesis builds models respectively and mainly analyzes the influence of the key parameters on system performance, combined with simulation.
