Ship Meteorological Instrument is a kind of ship borne automated marine meteorological observation system which is widely equipped in a variety of ships and acquire the wind, humidity, temperature, pressure, rainfall and other environment parameters in waters around. According to mastering the real-time weather environment data,it can make the safety of navigation, time-saving, economic, and make the losses caused by severe weather reduce to a minimum. According to saving marine meteorological data,it is of important significance for observing ocean, researching ocean and developing ocean.Modern measure and control systems usually have the high-preformance modules of datum acquiring, signal processing, I/O and commucation. They also have friendly user interface. The ARM microprocessor and embedded Linux operating system have been widely used in the designs of various electronic products because of their excellent performances and lower costs. And more and more developers of roboticized equipments and intelligent instruments like to use them in their designs.The paper is mainly about the design of embedded ship meteorological instrument based on ARM + Linux. The hardware platform includes: the micro processor unit AT91RM9200 which is produced by the ATMEL Corporation;system memory device such as 64M SDRAM and 8M NAND FLASH, peripheral interface such as serial port interface, network interface and man-machine interactive interface; selection of the appropriate sensors based on the actual needs.Software platform mainly includes: set up U-Boot boot loader process, configure and cut out the Linux kernel in accordance with the resources , add the source code which are not included in the system drivers ,such as AD, keyboard, CAN Bus, re-compile the kernel, download to the development platform and compile the application on this basis .At the same time, study embedded Linux graphical interface, transplant graphical interface system MiniGUI to Linux systems, design a more perfect, friendly graphical user interface, greatly facilitate the user's operation.
